¡Bienvenidos a Mosaicos: voces bilingües! Hemos creado una revista para informar, discutir, y preservar las voces de Latinoamerica. La importancia de crear esta revista es darle al escritor la libertad de expresar sus ideas únicas y opiniones, y darle a la audiencia la libertad de hacer una interpretación sin límites. Por medio del trabajo de los estudiantes de Millikin University, nuestra revista está compuesta por las culturas de la gente Latinoamerica.
El pensamiento colaborativo nos permite crear ideas intrincadas mediante la mezcla de diferentes mentalidades y del mismo modo que un mosaico convierte una simple pieza de arte en una imagen mucho más grande y bella a traves de un combinado de pequeños fragmentos. Nuestro mosaico está creado con una mezcla
de identidades nacionales, la aceptación de otras razas y la participación de diversas culturas. Con el fin de aumentar conocimiento sobre aspectos importantes del mundo, Mosaicos: voces bilingües ha agregado varios temas diferentes. Los temas recurrentes de la última edición de Mosaicos son: arte, cultura y literatura. Hemos agregado tres nuevos temas: salud, donde vamos a discutir el diabetes, competencia cultural y salud mental. También tenemos, al aire, donde discutiremos Spanglish y la Bahía de Guantánamo. Por último, la ultima sección es raíces, donde discutiremos el Mariachi y vestimentas de mujeres latinas y por último celebraciones donde vamos a discutir quinceañeras y fiestas patrias.
Al crear la revista Mosaicos hemos aprendido de la experiencias diversas de nuestro equipo. Al leer Mosaicos: voces bilingües esperamos ser exitosos en informarlos y entretenerlos.
Welcome to Mosaicos: voces bilingües! We have created a magazine to inform, discuss, and preserve the voices of Latin America. The importance of creating a magazine is the ability to give the writer the freedom to express their unique ideas and opinions and to give the reader the freedom to interpret them with no boundaries. Through the work of the students of Millikin University, our magazine is composed by the cultures of Latin American people.
Collaborative thinking makes it possible to create intricate ideas through the mixture of different mindsets, just as a mosaic turns a simple piece of art into a much larger, beautiful picture through the combination of small fragments. Our mosaic is also created with a mixture of national identities, acceptance of other races, and the participation of diverse cultures. In order to raise awareness about important aspects of the world, Mosaicos: voces bilingües has addressed several different themes. The recurring themes from the past edition of Mosaicos are: art, culture, and literature. In this volume we have added four new themes: health, where we will discuss diabetes, cultural competence, and mental health. The other sections is titled exposed, where we will discuss Spanglish and Guantanamo Bay. The next section, is titled roots, where we will discuss mariachi and latin women’s clothing, and lastly, celebrations, where we will discuss quinceañeras and fiestas patrias.
Creating Mosaicos has been a great way for us to get to know our classmates and enjoy learning about culture around the world. We hope that we are successful in informing and entertaining you while you read our articles!
